Basic Safety Training (BST)
Description
This Basic Safety Training programme prepares prospective and serving seafarers for the fundamental safety responsibilities required aboard seagoing ships. The course combines Personal Survival Techniques (PST), Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF), Elementary First Aid (EFA), and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) in one structured learning pathway. Learners complete online theory, module knowledge checks and a final assessment, followed by the required supervised practical demonstrations and competency sign-off. A single combined certificate is released only after all four modules and all required practical competencies are successfully completed.
